JULIE DUPONT
The next day, Rex arrived at the station and met his new partner, Julie Dupont.
Julie was a young and attractive woman with blonde hair and blue eyes.
She was wearing a blue suit and a badge that identified her as a detective.
“Hi, I’m Julie Dupont,” she said, extending her hand. “I’m your new partner.”
“Hi, Julie. I’m Rex Striker,” Rex said, shaking her hand. “It’s nice to meet you.”
“Likewise. I’m a big fan of your work, Rex. You’re an inspiration to me and many other detectives.”
“Thank you, Julie. That’s very flattering. But I’m sure you’re a great detective yourself.”
“I try my best.
I’ve been working as a detective for four years now.
I graduated from the Ontario Police College with honors and joined the London Police Service right after.
I’ve worked on various cases, from robberies to kidnappings to homicides.
I’ve solved two major crimes in the past year.”
“Really? What were they?”
“Well, the first one was the case of the serial killer known as the Zodiac Killer.
He was a copycat of the infamous Zodiac Killer who terrorized California in the 1960s and 1970s.
He killed six people in London, leaving behind cryptic messages and symbols at the crime scenes.
He also sent letters to the police and the media, taunting them and challenging them to catch him.
He was very clever and elusive, but I managed to crack his code and identify him as a former math teacher named Arthur Leigh Allen.
I arrested him before he could kill his seventh victim.”
“Wow, that’s impressive. How did you crack his code?”
“I used a combination of logic, intuition, and computer analysis.
I noticed that he used a simple substitution cipher with some variations and modifications.
I also noticed that he used some references to astrology, mythology, and literature in his messages.
I cross-referenced these clues with a database of potential suspects and narrowed down the list to Allen.
Then I confirmed his identity by matching his handwriting, DNA, and fingerprints to the evidence.”
“That’s amazing, Julie. You have a brilliant mind.”
“Thank you, Rex.
But that’s not all.
The second case I solved was the case of the Phantom Thief.
He was a master thief who stole valuable items from museums, galleries, and private collections around the world.
He always left behind a calling card with his signature: a black mask with a white question mark on it.
He also left behind clues and riddles for the police to follow, but they always led to dead ends or traps.
He was very cunning and daring, but I managed to catch him in the act and recover his loot.”
“How did you catch him?”
“I used a combination of deduction, observation, and disguise.
I noticed that he had a pattern in his targets: he always stole items related to ancient civilizations or cultures.
I also noticed that he had a preference for certain dates and times: he always struck on the night of a full moon or an eclipse at midnight or noon.
I predicted his next target based on these criteria and set up a trap for him.
I disguised myself as one of the security guards at the museum and waited for him to show up. When he did, I confronted him and revealed my identity.
He tried to escape, but I chased him down and arrested him.”
“That’s incredible, Julie. You have a keen eye.”
“Thank you, Rex. But enough about me. Let’s talk about you.”
“What do you want to know?”
“Well, for starters, why did you decide to move to London? What made you leave LA?”
