more than one form

Dementia I've Gotcha

Dementia, a silent thief of the mind,

Stealing memories, leaving loved ones behind.

It takes many forms, each one unique,

Bringing different symptoms, each one so bleak.

Alzheimer's, the most well-known of all,

Gradually taking memories, big and small.

Confusion and disorientation soon arise,

Making simple tasks a difficult prize.

Vascular dementia, from broken blood flow,

Affecting memory and thinking, don't you know.

Strokes and heart disease, it's underlying cause,

Leaving confusion and depression without pause.

Lewy Body dementia, a mystery it seems,

Bringing hallucinations and muscle spasms in dreams.

Fluctuating attention and alertness it brings,

Making it difficult for daily life to function and swing.

Frontotemporal dementia, a change in behavior,

Personality shifts and language, it will savour.

Inability to understand social cues it brings,

Affecting relationships, and everyday things.

Dementia with Lewy bodies, and Parkinson's unite,

Motor symptoms and confusion, in the day and night.

Hallucinations, tremors and problems with speech,

Making it hard to communicate, and life to teach.

These forms of dementia, a cruel disease,

Bringing pain and sorrow, with increasing ease.

So let us remember, those affected with love,

And strive for a cure, from the heavens above.
