Sunset Scott's Creek 26-08-19

August 19, 2026 at 11:00:00 p.m.

The sunset burns across the western sky,
And Scott's Creek glows beneath the fading light;
White herons rise like ghosts and drift nearby,
While blue herons stand silent in the night.

The Canada Geese return across the shore,
Their gentle calls float softly through the air;
And ducks glide where the golden waters pour,
Leaving silver ripples everywhere.

Then suddenly, a jumping fish breaks free,
A flash of silver dancing in the light;
It arcs above the shimmering estuary,
Then disappears into the coming night.

From Scott's Creek, the waters slowly flow,
Through the Elizabeth River's winding course;
Toward Chesapeake Bay, where currents grow,
And onward to the Atlantic's mighty source.

The final rays turn amber, rose, and red,
While herons watch the twilight settle down;
The creek reflects the colors overhead,
And carries sunset toward the ocean's crown.
I never tire of this
